KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Jan — Cadangan untuk melarang motosikal berkuasa rendah masuk pusat bandar Kuala Lumpur boleh membebankan rakyat berpendapatan rendah, kata pertubuhan pekerja dan majikan.
Menyifatkan ia “tidak masuk akal”, Persekutuan Majikan Malaysia (MEF) dan Kongres Kesatuan Sekerja Malaysia (MTUC) berkata cadangan itu akan meningkatkan kos perjalanan pekerja sehingga 40 peratus.
Mereka berkata kos minyak motosikal jauh lebih murah berbanding tambang pengangkutan awam yang boleh mencecah sehingga RM10 sehari.
Pengguna motosikal, juga digelar kapcai, hanya membayar RM7 untuk mengisi minyak setangki penuh dan boleh bertahan sehingga lima hari perjalanan.
“Rakyat berpendapatan rendah hanya mampu membeli motosikal berkuasa rendah dan kini dengan kenaikan harga barangan pengguna akibat pelaksanaan cukai barangan dan perkhidmatan (GST), ia menelan upah pekerja berpendapatan rendah,” kata setiausaha agung MTUC J Solomon kepada Malay Mail Online.
