MTUC continued the distribution with 51 volunteers who travelled with 28 cars.
Total send out was 516 paxs out which 245 was delivered to the destinations and 271 was returned. We had more returns is due to many new volunteers and needed more time to understand the process and also some locations the volunteers had to que behind roadblocks.
The High Commission has also arranged one Bangladeshi to go with us so that the receipient will not have any communication difficulties.
Our MRC Officers also visited two places in Banting, Selangor and Jalan Duta and met more than 100 workers who requested the Embassy for food as the employers have not paid their salaries since MCO.
Sadly, there are number of cases where foreign workers are not paid their salaries since September 2019 and these MCO has given MTUC to identify such exploitative employers.
MTUC is pleased with the Embassy to provide food to such workers. Most of the cases MTUC attended are workers who are living with one meal per day or surviving with only rice and lentils. Dhall
We have to thank the spirit of our volunteers for coming back after their delivery and sending the items that was brought back the team that was forced to return. Reason is they do not want the migrant workers to suffer another day.
