NUBE SMJ Union House, Johor Bahru, 26 November 2017- Today heralds an important milestone in the continued struggle of NUBE to reach all bank workers and represent them especially those, who have not yet been unionized and are yet to come into the UNION fold.

To this effect, NUBE lead by its President Bro Michael Tan Eng Hong and the organizing team comprising of Bro Chee Yeeh Ceeu, Vice-President and Chairman of Organizing and Recruitment Committee and NUBE Legal Advisor, Mr V. Alfred as well as Ms. Lindu Livan, Coordinator for Organizing and Recruitment, launched a Campaign titled “Organise, Unionise” to reach and come in contact with and organise the unorganise bank workers and thereby bring them “Good News” that NUBE has always been here for all bank workers, to advise, to defend, to protect and offer the benefit of advocacy in Court against abuses, violation, and sophisticated and devious scheme that may result in termination and dismissal from employment.

Further NUBE offers array of services to those who join as members such as free opinion, advise and representation, free legal advise, free guidance to excel at work, affordable personal insurance cover, family hospitalization insurance cover, personal loan facility, pension scheme retirement, free training and paid leave to attend training.

So to get the campaign on the road, NUBE has launched a video titled “ORGANISE, UNIONISE” as part of this campaign to secure new members into its fold. The video shall be uploaded soon in the social media. All bank workers have are encourage to view and share the video among their friends those who are members and those who are unorganized bank workers. For quick understanding and reference of NUBE objectives, services and activities, a flyer is available at easy access at NUBE’s Headquarters and its Branches to all NUBE members and unorganized bank workers.

Pursuant to this launching, NUBE is simultaneously carrying out Sessions for strategic planning and training of its Branch and Working Committees members and the first session commenced today on 26 November 2017 from 9.00 am to 5.00pm in Johor Bahru for the Seremban, Melaka and Johor Branch (“SMJ Branch”). This shall be followed by field visit to selected Bank Branches from 27 to 30 November 2017 commencing in Johor Bahru on 27 November 2017 and proceeding thereon to Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Batu pahat, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.

The session in Johor Bahru involved of 27 Branch and Working Committees of SMJ Branch and participated well throughout the session and there was excitement and keen interest on two important techniques such as “SWOT analysis and Power Mapping” that was introduced to provide confidence and the needed skills for carrying out organising work effectively during Campaign.

At the conclusion of the launching and the session today, participants strongly felt that the session conducted has given a clear direction as to how to go about contacting, reaching and organising bank workers into NUBE.

Therefore, NUBE would like to advise for bank workers who haven’t signed up as NUBE member to do so immediately. NUBE is the only Union in Banking Industry that will give protections and representation at work place and NUBE would always be there for you now and in the future.
