The 6th Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) was hosted by Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) and co-organised with Edbiz Consulting at Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta on September 29, 2016.
The four award categories are Top Award, Prestigious Awards, General Categories and Occasional Categories.
The objective of the GIFA is to highlight the best practises in Islamic banking and finance with the top of the selection criteria is promoting social responsibility, Shari’a authenticity and commitment to Islamic banking and finance.
An organization is considered to be socially responsible if it makes continuing efforts to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as the local community and society at large.
Shockingly, this year, Bank Muamalat (M) Bhd was awarded under the Occasional Categories for ‘Pioneer of Islamic Banking’ despite their tyranny and inhuman action against low income workers in attempting to separate the workforce from their families and eventually terminated the workforce.
The credibility of the Nomination/Awards committee is now highly questionable as it is so obvious that Bank Muamalat (M) Bhd is a misfit to such award and embarrassment to Edbiz Consulting and suggest to be given to other deserving Islamic banks in Malaysia.
NUBE will write an official complaint to Edbiz Consulting and the official host Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) and to withdraw the award from Bank Muamalat as it is an insult to the heart of the selection criteria and also to restore credibility and confidence to Edbiz Consulting.
