NUBE Tuduh Menteri Sumber Manusia, Steven Sim Chee Keong 沈志强, Ingkari Perjanjian Bantuan Perayaan. Dalam artikel ini oleh Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy, bekas tokoh terkemuka DAP dan bekas Ketua Menteri II Pulau Pinang di FocusMalaysia.my, beliau, menegaskan bahawa NUBE menuduh Menteri Sumber Manusia, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, mengabaikan MoA #Bantuan Perayaan MCBA/NUBE tahun lalu.
Walaupun pada 2 April bank telah mengumumkan pembayaran eks-gratia satu kali gaji untuk staf bukan kerani dan separuh bulan gaji untuk staf kerani dan kelas khas, NUBE menyatakan bahawa pembayaran eks-gratia ini tidak selaras dengan MoA Bantuan Perayaan.
Simbol kontribusi pekerja sebagai sumber utama keuntungan yang diperoleh oleh bank komersial, Bantuan Perayaan bertujuan untuk meringankan beban kewangan keluarga semasa perayaan. Namun, dengan penurunan nilai ringgit yang mempengaruhi kuasa beli pekerja, tidak ada alasan bagi MCBA untuk menggantikan apa yang telah disepakati dengan pembayaran bantuan perayaan sekali bayar.
Artikel penuh Prof Ramasamy mempertanyakan, adakah Sim terlibat dalam keputusan untuk menggantikan pembayaran bantuan perayaan tahunan dengan pembayaran sekali gus tanpa pengetahuan NUBE dan apa yang telah dilakukannya untuk pekerja di negara ini, khususnya pekerja bank yang menghadapi tekanan kewangan.
