PEJABAT Perdana Menteri mengesahkan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad menghantar surat peletakan jawatan sebagai Perdana Menteri Malaysia hari ini.
Menurut Pejabat Perdana Menteri, surat berkenaan dihantar kepada Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri' ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, pada 1 tengah hari tadi.
Terdahulu, Harian Metro melaporkan, kecoh apabila Dr Mahathir dikatakan akan meletakkan jawatannya.
Portal Malaysian Insight melaporkan Dr Mahathir sudah menyerahkan surat peletakan jawatannya kepada Yang di- Pertuan Agong.
Difahamkan perkembangan terbaharu itu ada kaitan pensejajaran semula kuasa kepada pakatan baharu.
