ATMs were introduced to facilitate core banking facility after banking hours, weekends and holidays. It was also for locations with a large population of people as additional services.

NUBE is inundated with reports from members and complaints by customers to say that some banks are neglecting customer service during banking hours by pushing customers to use the ATMs. These actions by the banks depriving customer’s service and causes staff redundancy.�
NUBE welcomes the advent of technology to enhance services to customers; it is not to formulate ways to create unemployment, contrary to the government’s aspiration. This is also contrary to the Bank’s own vision, mission and values.�
NUBE has written to Bank Negara and MCBA to stop such ill practices with immediate effect.

NUBE members are urged to stop forcing customers to use ATM’s during banking hours, on the other hand serve them in accordance with the services pledged by banks, irrespective of whether they are priority customers or not.
