Seberang Jaya, 13 November 2016 – NUBE sekali lagi mencatat sejarah hari ini selepas Sdr Abdul Jamil dipilih sebagai Naib Pengerusi yang baru dalam Persidangan 3 Tahunan Kongres Kesatuan Sekerja Malaysia (MTUC) Bahagian Pulau Pinang.
Persidangan kali ini hanya pertandingkan 2 Jawatan utama iaitu Naib Pengerusi dan Setiausaha Kehormat, Penyandang Setiausaha Kehormat Sdr K.Veeriah (UETU) mengekalkan jawatannya setelah menang tipis dengan hanya 2 undi sahaja menentang Sdr Chee Yeeh Ceeu dari NUBE.
Sdr Abdul Jamil dalam ucapannya berkata pemilihan sudah habis marilah kita bersama-sama merapatkan barisan dan meneruskan agenda perjuangan untuk memartabatkan warga pekerja dimana kini menghadapi pelbagai cabaran.
Beliau juga mengucapkan jutaan terima kasih kepada semua Gabungan MTUC yang telah memberi kepercayaan kepada kepimipinan NUBE untuk membawa sinar baru dalam perjuangan MTUC, tidak lupa juga kepada kesemua Ahli-Ahli Jawatankuasa & Jawatankuasa Kerja NUBE NR, KLSP dan Ipoh yang datang beramai-ramai untuk beri sokongan padu.
