Mr. Mukhtar Malik Hussain, the highest-ranking officer of HSBC Bank Bhd commits a second violation of the Occupational Safety Act 1994 – Safety and Health Committee Regulations 1996, Part IV.

He has breach of Regulation 27. (1) of the Act because he failed to comply with the mandatory requirement to furnish the Minutes of the OSH meeting to each of the Committee member within two (2) weeks after the meeting has taken.

First, the Bank failed to hold the meetings according to the law. Now, they fail to provide the Minutes of meeting.

The person found not complying with the above regulations shall be guilty of an offense and upon conviction, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding five (5) thousand Ringgit or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both. This is stated under Regulations 32 of the OSH Act.

The CEO is directly responsible for the proper and effective function of the OSH Committee in order to ensure the health and safety of the workers in HSBC Bank (M) Bhd.

Mr. Mukhtar Malim Hussain has also failed to respond to our letters.

Looks like Mr. Mukhtar Malik Hussain who is from Kuwait seeking employment here in Malaysia is busy buying houses worth millions of Ringgits while making Malaysians are made redundant and neglecting to ensure a safe working environment in compliance of the Malaysian OSH Act.
