After 59 years of independence and 53 years of establishing Malaysian Federation, it is abundantly clear that some Malaysian employers continue to victimise Malaysian workers and treat them as slaves.

Sadly, the very characteristics of intimidation, harassment, cheating, manipulating, bullying, dividing, robbing livelihood & innocent happiness of the poor workers, demonstrated by the colonial masters are now being exercised by some of these few employers.

Similarly, Bank Muamalat is the living testimony of these remnants of the British Colonials where workers are treated like slaves as the top management continue to demonstrate its immoral, unethical and unbecoming behaviour.

Since it is an Islamic Bank, the Shariah Committee was established to ensure that the Bank conducts its affairs in accordance with the Shariah principles, but unfortunately the same committee is condoning victimisation of fellow Muslim workers in the bank.

On this special occasion of commemorating Malaysia Day, NUBE urges that the owners of Bank Muamalat, who have immensely benefited from Malaysians, to prevent the management of the bank from exerting the colonial attitude and ensure justice to the poor workers
